Information Sessions

We look forward to introducing you to Sequoyah School through our information sessions and this virtual visit site.

We also welcome you to join us in learning about the school’s efforts toward diversity, equity, and inclusion in our community, as well as sessions about affording Sequoyah School through our indexed tuition program.

Our informational events are typically held from October to January. Register for a session starting in mid-September to get acquainted with Sequoyah School. We look forward to meeting your family!

Affording Sequoyah School

Sequoyah School is a place where students know their learning is honored and celebrated by an entire school community.  Because the years from Kindergarten to Junior High are a decisive period during which students have the potential to become lifelong learners, encouraging a student’s intrinsic motivation to learn is at the heart of Sequoyah School’s teaching.

Children who are curious and eager to learn with a potential for success in an experientially based learning environment may be a good fit for Sequoyah School, as will parents and guardians who wish to play an active, partnering role in the school community.

K-8 Admissions

Sequoyah School students become change makers — effective and skilled advocates who know how to inspire collaboration and lead innovation. Our high school curriculum is designed to prepare students to become experienced, confident, and resourceful problem-solvers who apply their knowledge and passion using strategies that can make a difference for their communities and in their own lives.

Sequoyah School students are challenged to think critically and creatively, learn how to work in diverse teams, and communicate ideas successfully.

In 1958, Sequoyah School’s founders envisioned a progressive school for a better world. Central to that vision was a dedication to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive educational environment. Today, Sequoyah School continues this journey within the planning, operation, and curriculum of the school.

This active and ongoing effort is essential to the pursuit and celebration of human dignity. It allows our students to become self-reflective, engaged citizens able to participate in the authentic exchange of ideas and dialogue across differences.

We believe that diversity among students and families, faculty and staff, administration and leadership enriches the learning environment at Sequoyah School. A diverse representation of identity, thought, and experience prepares our students to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the larger world.

Teaching & Learning

Sequoyah School fosters curiosity and resiliency, and emphasizes hands-on learning that prepares children and teenagers to become active, engaged critical thinkers and lifelong learners. As progressive educators, our teachers and administrators focus on students’ social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.

Kindergarten-8th Grade:
formative years

Learn about the many aspects that make a Sequoyah K-8 education unique: from mixed-age classrooms to teaching specialists, from camping to conflict resolution, each student actively experiences their Sequoyah School education in very distinct, personal ways.

High School:
critical, independent thinking

High school at Sequoyah School is more than attending classes and taking tests. Students engage with their teachers, classmates, and learning material in meaningful, collaborative ways that create connections, broaden perspectives, and deepen understanding.
