“We could see how much the teachers and staff care about their students. The love and commitment is so obvious. ”

“All the teachers and administrators are working so hard. I find joy in all the fun schoolwork we do at home thanks to them.”

— Kindergarten Parent

“Sequoyah approaches education in a way, if we are all honest, we'd all like it to: from a personal, passionate perspective, focusing on the individual more than the grade, the experience more than just checking off the boxes. It's a community in the real sense of the word.”

“It’s not an exaggeration to say that I think he’s getting more out of Sequoyah’s distance learning than he did from previous in-person work [at a prior school]. ”

— 9th Grade Parent

“We've reflected on this past year, and are all so very happy to be at Sequoyah. We've seen our child grow, and he is proud of all that he has accomplished, which makes us proud.”

— 10th Grade Parent

“I don't know of any other programs like [the Social Innovation Program] at any other high schools in LA. All high schools have volunteer projects but they tend to be very individually focused and about getting their volunteer hours fulfilled. I haven't seen or heard anything like this where kids really delve into real life issues and try to figure out how to make a difference in their communities.

The work really demonstrated to me how Sequoyah is helping shape the kids into being active, empathetic members of any community to which they belong (school, city and beyond). Twenty years from now, I'll want to continue to support the school that instilled a love of learning in my children.”
